This amazingly comfortable and squishy looking cake came from Chez Récamier, a French-style Japanese bakery in Bangkok, Thailand.
It's a steamed milk cake. Doesn't its pillow-like look make you feel like just jumping into it? Even the whiteness and the milk part of it have such comforting associations...
Indeed, the texture was soft and fluffy...
And the milk flavour came through as a very light caramel fragrance.
I thought this was unusual because I normally come across the egg and cheese variants. This was my first time seeing a pure milk cake.
Such a simple joy doesn't require much of a write up I guess. I'd get this again the next chance I have!
