Four-Grain Tea

This tea was labelled "Genmai Cha", which is Japanese toasted brown rice tea. However, it had a total of four grains, besides Japanese green tea and matcha (hence the number "6" on the bottle, for six main ingredients).

The four grains were barley, corn, toasted brown rice and tear grass, which is known as another kind of barley in Chinese cuisine (kind of like "Chinese barley").

And I thought it had an interesting taste. This tea was pure - no sugar added, so I had the chance to appreciate the flavour that each grain brought.

The green tea and matcha flavours were pretty light. Really kinda like one-third of the taste, as their proportion suggests haha.

The toasted brown rice came through like a brown rice pop flavour, as is pretty standard.

And the corn flavour tasted like corn pops! Really interesting, as I'd not tasted corn in tea before.

I couldn't quite make out the flavours of the two barley varieties... maybe there was a hint of maltiness in the background. Or maybe they helped to blend the other four tastes.

Overall, a refreshing and healthy tea. I enjoyed this chilled.

I got this from Isetan @ Westgate, Singapore. It was a bit costlier though - $2.50, as it was an import from Japan.
