I tried this pulut hitam latte at Sinpopo at Funan Centre, Singapore, sometime back in late 2022 before my hiatus. It's a non-coffee latte. Pulut hitam is a type of black glutinous rice with a very earthy taste that I love. It is frequently eaten in Southeast Asia as a dessert called bubur pulut hitam, which is slow-boiled like many Chinese desserts and eaten as a sweet porridge-like dessert with coconut milk.
Visually, it was also stunning - check out that lovely burgundy cascading effect.
This latte honestly tasted exactly like the dessert, except that the coconut milk taste was much stronger. Nonetheless, the pulut hitam taste was strong and rich too. It was quite sweet for me, however, and I would have enjoyed it much more if the sugar level had been like 30% of what was inside. Nonetheless, it's definitely worth a try if it's still on the menu.
I don't know if there is dairy milk in it as I did not ask and also did not really notice its presence given the stronger flavours of the coconut milk and the pulut hitam.
