Apparently, there are people who think that if you put anything between two slices of bread, you get a cool sandwich...
Check out what this stall is selling in the Takashimaya @ Namba, Osaka food basement. I thought the fruit cream sandwiches were weird enough... although it was still understandable because maybe they thought that anything that went with waffles should also go with white bread.
But then I saw this.
Red bean with green tea cream sandwich.
And it's their 5th most popular item!!
So well, you may think that people tend to get more creative with desserts as there is a kind of artistic license to do so...
But in the other display case, they had some savoury versions... yakisoba sandwiches!! (Yakisoba is Japanese fried noodles.) Yes, they stir fried noodles with sauce and placed them between white bread slices. Talk about carbs upon carbs. It's weird to think of having it as a meal... and downright bizarre to have it as a dessert!
And apparently there are enough people who buy this for the stall to thrive in a competitive departmental store food basement. This must be a conspiracy...
