I had tried exotic soymilks earlier such as fig soy milk, kiwi and carrot, so I was curious to try this Nashi Pear Soy Milk by Fukuren. I also saw a Kyoho Grape Soy Milk by Kikkoman, which I will cover in the next post.
This drink features real Fukuoka Nashi Pear juice which flavours the soy milk. You can see the drink's color in the sample drawn up by the straw in the picture - basically the normal soy milk colour.
It turned out to be an extremely nice pairing! (Pardon the homonymous pun!) The pear contributed a prominent fruity fragrance that reminded me of a green apple flavor, like in the green apple Yakult or yoghurt drinks. But it tasted very natural and not synthetic at all, which is not a surprise given that there's 4% or more of real Nashi juice.
Furthermore, the soy provided a nice nutty balance and bean flavour not found in milk, and that rounds off the taste very nicely.
It also wasn't too sweet at all! Sugar came after soybeans as an ingredient, and I think the lack of lactose helps moderate the sweetness.
I would recommend trying this if you get the chance! I got it at Suntec City Don Don Donki for just S$2.50.
