Chrysanthemum Tea Chocolate

I'm interrupting the sun cake series for a while to feature some entries from a tea chocolate series. Perhaps this takes a (tea) leaf from the tie guan yin sun cake, but I guess there's just a lot of tea-inspired products in Asia in general. This time, it's a tea chocolate series by Fossa. The three tea chocolates I got this time were chrysanthemum, honey orchid dancong oolong and drifting snowflakes jasmine green. A fourth flavour I also got is not tea-related, but it was still nice so I'll review it later.

4 Fossa chocolate variations
If you have drunk plain chrysanthemum tea before, you'll know it's actually quite bitter, with a woody taste. It's usually sweetened in the Asian shelf-stable packet drinks, but if you go to a Chinese restaurant or brew it yourself from the loose leaf, it tastes more like a herbal drink than a soft drink. So this chocolate was also quite bitter and herby. It did however go quite well with the chocolate, which was actually milk chocolate (based on the ingredients including milk powder), and ended up making the chocolate taste like woody, herbal dark chocolate.

If you like dark chocolate, this is definitely an upgrade as it adds to the flavour. However, if you prefer sweeter chocolates such as milk chocolate, you might not like this.
