Triple Berry Gouter de Roi chocolate-coated rusk is a seasonal offering by Gateau Festa Harada, available only from mid-March to end-May yearly. But the good news is that it's available country-wide, and that also happens during their sakura season, which is peak tourist season for them. Maybe that's why they offer this similarly pink treat then. So if you're planning an upcoming trip to Japan for sakura watching, don't forget to pick this up.
Triple berry refers to strawberry, blueberry and raspberry. They use the respective berry powders to flavour not just the chocolate coating, but I think also the bread that they toast for the rusk. As you can see from the image, the rusk bread is also purplish pink. There was also silver powder sprinkled on it for visual appeal.
Taste-wise, it was the perfect berries-and-cream flavour. I would describe it as a strawberry taste, but there was a nice balance between blueberry floral fragrance and nuanced pop of raspberry tartness. The fruity taste was rounded off nicely by creaminess of the chocolate.- Ruskology 101 - Original Butter Rusk and Hors d'oeuvre Rusk Sommelier by Gateau Festa Harada
